Building Decarbonization Workshop

Building Decarbonization Workshop

Wednesday, March 15, 2023 (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) (PDT)

Description

To reach our energy and greenhouse gas reduction goals, decarbonizing buildings needs to be a priority as they account for 41% of Los Angeles’ greenhouse gas count, more than any other sector. Recently the Los Angeles City Council passed legislation to require all new buildings to be fully electric while policies are being developed to address existing buildings. At the state level, the California Air Resources Board recently voted to ban the sale of all new natural gas-powered space headers and water-heading appliances by 2030. And, since 2019 the state has required all new residential construction to have solar photovoltaic systems. Join our presenters to discuss how: •good building design can eliminate dependence on fossil fuels while improving performance and comfort •federal, state, and local incentives, programs and new technologies will transform new and existing buildings allowing us to fully decarbonize all homes and offices across the region
